Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the terror victims at St Anthony’s Church in Sri Lanka’s Colombo. The church had come under terrorist attack in April 2019. PM Modi was received at the International Airport in Colombo by his Sri Lankan counterpart Ranil Wickremesinghe. PM Modi became the first foreign leader to visit the island nation after the Easter terror bombings that killed over 250 people.

  3. Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Tamil National Alliance delegation in Colombo. The delegation led by R. Sampanthan had a fruitful discussion with the Prime Minister. The TNA delegation also congratulated PM Modi on his recent electoral victory in Lok Sabha election. 
  4. Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with Indian community at India House in Colombo. While addressing the Indian diaspora, he hailed Indian democracy by saying that democracy is a part of India’s ethos.
  5. Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati after completing his two-day visit to Maldives and Sri Lanka. He was received by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and other leaders. PM offered prayers at temple Tirumala.

To oversee the poll preparations,  Union Home Minister and BJP president Amit Shah held separate meetings with Chief Ministers of Maharashtra and Jharkhand, Devendra Fadnavis and Raghubar Das respectively. Elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand will be held later this year for which Shah met the core BJP group of the two states.
  7. JDU will not be a part of NDA outside the state of Bihar. JDU will fight the upcoming elections alone in Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Haryana and Delhi. The decision has been taken in the party's National Executive Meeting.
  8. JDU made it clear that it will not “compromise” on Article 370 for which party’s ideologue Jayaprakash Narayan had fought against its dilution. “Jayaprakash Narayan was the only leader to support Article '370', when it was attacked by Congress and attempts were made to dilute it.
  9. Rain lashed parts of Kochi as monsoon is catching up in Kerala after making landfall in the southern state. Low pressure formed over the Arabian Sea as The Meteorological Department said the low pressure was expected to intensify into a depression in the next two days and subsequently into a cyclone. Late night monsoon knocked on Mumbai city too.
  10. As the world celebrates Oceans Day, several Bollywood stars flooded social media with their concerns over water crisis and pollution in the oceans. Dia Mirza, who is United Nations Environment Goodwill Ambassador for India, posted pictures on her Twitter handle where she can be seen clearing waste from a sea shore.
