Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi announced that the BJP-led central government will provide scholarships to 5 crore students belonging to the minority communities in next 5 years. The new government measure is aimed at lowering dropout rates of girl students of the minority community. The scholarships will be provided through various mediums which also include Maulana Azad Education Foundation, which Naqvi said will provide 10 lakh scholarships.

  2. The delegation led by former Union minister and BJP leader Vijay Goel protested against the scarcity of water in Delhi at Delhi Jal Board headquarters in the national capital. While protesting they also met Delhi Jal Board CEO Nikhil Kumar who took charge on June 6.

He has also declared two days holiday on June 13 and 14 in schools and colleges in 10 districts, where Cyclone Vayu is likely to impact.  While addressing the media in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar on Cyclone Vayu, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said, “I request the tourists visiting Gujarat and going to Dwarka, Somnath, Sasan and Kutch to leave for safer places after the afternoon of June 12 so that you don't get harmed due to the cyclone.”

While addressing a press conference in the national capital, Union Cabinet Minister in Ministry of Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said, “We are working with the commitment to provide clean drinking water to every household, by 2024. This is our priority.” Shekhawat also discussed importance of rain water harvesting and to maintain a good relation with state governments to solve the water scarcity issue.
  6. The plastic manufacturers of Kanpur staged demonstration against plastic ban in the city. They have protested in order to get their livelihood. There is a strict ban on the usage of plastics and disposable items in Kanpur. They demanded that the state government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi should provide them with some other better job opportunity after putting a strict ban on plastic.
  7. Mortal remains of Lance Naik Mohammad Jawed brought to Patna Airport. BJP leader Nand Kishore Yadav was also present to pay his tribute. Jawed was critically injured & later succumbed to his injuries in ceasefire violation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch Sector.
  8. As much as 82 kg marijuana was seized and five drug peddlers were nabbed after the Special Operations Team along with Meerpet police conducted a joint operation. Sudheer Babu, Additional Commissioner, Rachakonda, said: "We have taken the initiative to curb the tentacles of drug peddlers. We have nabbed five people, who were possessing marijuana.
  9. A Hyderabadi woman has urged the Indian Embassy in Riyadh to rescue her son who is stranded in the Gulf nation. While speaking to media, mother of the stranded man said, “Some agents in Riyadh, Saudi have locked my son in a room and they are demanding Rs 1 lakh to send my son back. I have filed a complaint with the local police station in Hyderabad and then later approached the External Affairs Ministry and Indian Embassy in Riyadh, who said that my son will be rescued.
  10. The Manali-Leh National Highway has been opened for vehicular traffic movement in Himachal Pradesh. The Border Roads Organisation had completed snow-clearing operation of the road which remained block due to accumulation of snow during winter at various passes en route. A large number of tourists prefer the picturesque landscape to visit Leh from Manali by road.
