One of the BJP workers told media persons that when Shah’s roadshow was proceeding, some students who appeared to be affiliated with TMC hurled bricks and bottles at them. An injured local, who received head injuries, alleged that TMC workers hit him with bricks, and criticized TMC government for its ‘gundaraj’ in West Bengal.

Shah accused the TMC of trying to create a stampede-like situation at his roadshow, and appreciated BJP workers of not getting his roadshow coming to any halt.

Briefing media after the meeting, Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that the party has demanded the poll body to arrest “disturbing elements and history sheeters”

He said, “These 'mahamilavatis' are asking 'what is Modi's caste?’ I have been chief minister of Gujarat for longer times than both ‘Bua-Babua’ combined have been chief minister. I have contested and helped many, in contesting elections, but never used my caste for support.”

While addressing a public meeting in Chandigarh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated his stance against terrorism and said, “Modi adopted the security doctrine to go to hit inside the territory from where the terror emanates. Opposition could not digest it. Not only this, they questioned the capability to shoot down satellites in space. Their track record on national security is abysmal.”

While addressing people in Varanasi, via video message, Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued an emotional message for the people of the constituency and said, "Kashi is not two letters for me, it is an inspiration to me. The type of language they have used is not acceptable at all. This ‘gaali gang’ has lost the sweetness of their tongue and day by day, it has become ‘sugar free’. The hatred they have within themselves can be clearly seen on their faces”.
  10. Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in Delhi. Both the leaders held a meeting over several issues. Zarif arrived in India on Monday night and is on a two-day official visit to the country.
