As Gujarat is bracing for cyclone Vayu which is expected to hit the coastal regions of the state, the government has “intensified” its evacuation drive, and said that it has shifted over two lakh people from the low-lying areas to more than 2000 shelters, in order to mitigate the loss of lives.
Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar informed about the decisions taken in Cabinet meeting. He said that Cabinet has approved extension of President’s rule in Jammu and Kashmir for six months with effect from 3rd July, 2019. He also informed that the Government will introduce the triple talaq bill in the upcoming parliament session.
ISRO announced the launch date of India's second mission to the moon. Chandrayaan-2 Mission is scheduled to be launched on July 15 from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. While addressing a press conference ISRO Chairman Dr. K Sivan said, “ISRO has firmed up that Chandrayaan 2 Mission will be launched on July 15 after early morning at 2 hours 51 minutes.”
3 CRPF jawans lost their lives in a terror attack at KP road of Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district. 2 other CRPF personnel have been injured. SHO Anantnag has also received serious injuries. 1 terrorist has been nuetralised. More details are awaited.
Journalist Prashant Kanojia who was arrested by Uttar Pradesh Police for making ‘objectionable comments’ against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was released from jail. The Supreme Court had granted bail to journalist Kanojia. Speaking to mediaperson, Kanojia said, "I will read the Supreme Court order and then talk to the media. I have complete faith in the judiciary"
Delhi Congress Chief Sheila Dikshit met Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, over the power and water woes being faced by several residents of Delhi. After the meeting, Sheila Dikshit said, “Arvind Kejriwal has accepted the fact that Delhi is facing problems related to water and electricity.”
